The Academic Center Building is the heart of the Polytechnic campus and houses the campus library, ASU Counseling Services, Computing Commons, the Career and Professional Development Services Center, American Indian Student Support Services, and the Tutoring and Writing Center, along with state-of-the-art moderated classrooms.

ASU provides a wealth of services to foster the academic success of our diverse student population.

Writing Center

ASU Writing Centers offer a dynamic, supportive learning environment for currently enrolled ASU undergraduate and graduate students at any stage of the writing process. Tutors from a wide range of majors help students hone writing skills and gain confidence in their writing. Currently enrolled ASU students can schedule a 30-minute appointment for one-on-one writing tutoring in person at the Tempe campus in Noble Library, Room 280 or online live via Zoom.

Tutoring

University Academic Success Programs’ tutoring centers offer free support to currently enrolled ASU students in Math, Science, Business, Statistics, and Engineering. Students can visit the tutoring centers to work with a peer tutor, attend review sessions before major exams, and utilize prep sessions to refresh their knowledge on core concepts to prepare them for their upcoming coursework.

Supplemental Instruction Study Groups

Supplemental Instruction (SI) was created as an academic support model which uses peer-facilitated, collaborative group sessions to improve student retention. In an effort to improve student success rates in courses that traditionally have high rates of Ds, Es and Withdrawals (DEWs) at Arizona State University (ASU), University Academic Success Programs (UASP) offers colleges/departments the opportunity to work in partnership through the Supplemental Instruction program.

The SI model provided by UASP supports a range of small to large lecture courses by providing weekly out-of-class review sessions in smaller group settings to allow for discussion and collaborative study among students. Active participation with the material in a group setting enables students to build a framework and make more of a connection to the course content. As the SI Leader facilitates active learning and discussion about the material, students can ask questions and establish their own links to the subject matter. In addition, SI Leaders encourage student interaction as a way to develop an academic support network.

The ASU Library is comprised of eight libraries and seven collections across the university's four metro Phoenix campuses.

Polytechnic Campus Library

The Polytechnic campus Library, one of eight ASU Library locations, is located in the Academic Center. The full rich research collection of the entire ASU Library, both in print and online, is provided through the library. Students, faculty, and staff have access to over 275 research databases and almost 50,000 full text electronic journals which are available both on and off campus.

ASU’s Live Well Community is dedicated to supporting you in your health and wellbeing journey. Health and wellness influence students’ academic and personal outcomes. What students learn to maintain a healthy lifestyle now can build a foundation for their future success.

Counseling Services

ASU Counseling Services are for any Sun Devil, regardless of your race, gender, sexual orientation, age, student status, religion, ability, size, financial situation, the issue you're dealing with or whether you've had counseling before. Something as simple as talking to someone can help you feel better, improve your grades and manage stress.

As of April 2021, ASU Counseling Services offers Open Call and Open Chat and telehealth individual sessions for Sun Devils anywhere in the world, at any time of day or night 24/7. Call and chat services are available in English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Korean and Spanish. The app is ADA compliant, and TTY accessible.
